ISSUE INSURANCE is a full-service brokerage general agency founded in 1972. We’ve helped thousands of agents provide their clients with better values in life insurance, long term care insurance, disability insurance, and fixed annuities. Our goal is to develop long term relationships with financial service professionals. We are dedicated to improving the brokerage experience by providing excellent support and access to the best tools and products. We provide a “hands-on” approach where our service is noticeably better. Agents tell us we are more responsive, know how to work tough cases and get their clients better offers compared to other outlets. From sales training to marketing, to case design through underwriting, we are available to assist you. Our most successful relationships are characterized by a blurring of the lines between our employees and the agent’s employees. Often, an agent can operate with less staff due to the value-added we provide.

Mark was born in The Bronx, grew up in a suburb of NYC, and moved to Dayton, where he met his beautiful wife Michelle while going to college. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton and the American College, and has earned Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter designations. He has two excellent sons and one fantastic granddaughter, June. On Friday afternoons you may find him on the golf course.

Tana was born and raised in the small town of Piketon, Ohio. She has a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from Columbia Southern University. Over her career, she has worked at Columbus Life, Nationwide and has well over 20 years at ISSUE Insurance. Outside of the office, Tana enjoys spontaneous road trips with her husband Steve, spending time with her three kids Lindsay, Alexandria, Niklas, granddaughter Cloe and her 3 Goldendoodles.

Michelle was born in Lima, Ohio and moved to Dayton for grade school. She is the oldest of five children with four younger brothers and her incredible support helped her family start this business. She is a graduate of Chaminade Julienne High School. She started working at ISSUE Insurance while in high school and years later, took time off to raise her sons. Her favorite title is “Nonna” to her beautiful granddaughter, June. She is an avid UD basketball fan.
Our History
In 1972, Joe Sarno had a wife and five kids and was a top life insurance producer for a leading carrier. Like many entrepreneurs, he didn’t like working for anyone and wanted to be his own boss. At the age of 32, he started ISSUE Insurance in the basement of his home. There were lean years at first but through hard work, innovation and perseverance, he grew ISSUE into a full-service Brokerage General Agency with a solid reputation for getting clients better offers in life insurance. In 2015, Joe’s daughter, Michelle George and her husband, Mark, purchased ISSUE Insurance, and they manage it with the help of long-time Vice President Tana Heisey.
Today, we provide brokers with access to the industry’s best products, CFP-level case design, generous payouts and most importantly, a boutique-level of hands-on service. ISSUE has placed tens of thousands of life insurance policies with death benefits ranging from $10,000 to $100,000,000. In addition to Fixed and Variable Life Insurance, brokers use ISSUE for Long Term Care Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Fixed Annuities.
